Estimates varied widely & scheduling electricians was difficult. We are here to take the guess work out of installing home EV charging and ensure you pay a fair price. Most homes are relatively simple to install EV charging capabilities, depending on the year your home was built and location of your electrical panel. Q: Can I plug my EV into a standard wall outlet?

A: Yes, you can. On average, it provides about 3-5 miles for every one hour of charge. Most EVs get about 100-300 miles per charge. So, let’s say that you have a standard outlet and your vehicle gets 300 miles. It would take 60 or more hours to charge your EV.

Q: Can I install an EV charging station on my own?

A: We do not recommend this as a DIY project. Working with electricity can be dangerous and is best left to the professionals.

Q: How much does it cost to install an EV charger in the home?

A: It all depends on the electrical panel available capacity and its location in your home. If your electrical panel is in close proximity to your charging location & you have space for 50-60 amp breaker (where a sub panel and will not be required), cost will generally range between ~$600-$1300. If a sub panel is required, this cost will be significantly higher. The cost for charging your vehicle at home varies depending on your area, but home charging is generally cheaper than public charging stations and considerably less expensive than fossil fuels.

A: Most installs take about 2-3 hours. We tell people to plan for 1-5 hours, as it does depend on the scope of the project. When you purchase an EV, it comes with a standard 120-volt Level 1 portable charger. Yes, it can be plugged into a simple household outlet with no special installation required. But, as you may already know, a Level 1 charger is limited. These chargers take 40 to 50 hours to charge a battery from empty! If you’re like most drivers, you’ll need a better solution.

Level 2 chargers can charge an empty battery in just 4 to 10 hours. They are faster and more efficient, which is important if you have a long commute or drive regularly.
